Distinction in Lean Manufacturing for Lisa

Lisa Poxon, our New Business Sales Executive started at Jenks & Cattell Engineering in January 2019 from a sales background but with very little experience in metal presswork, laser cut fabrications and welding and as part of Jenks & Cattell’s focussed training plan the business has given Lisa the time and funding to complete an apprenticeship in addition to her degree.

Alongside City of Wolverhampton College, Lisa completed her Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative course which involved 12-months of on-site learning once a week and completing relative assignments. As part of the course, Lisa has spent several hours on our shop floor and has learned how to operate the robot welding as well as the use of lean manufacturing techniques and problem-solving tools across the whole business.

Lisa’s final assignment was last week, and she was independently reviewed which involved an observation of her operating the robot weld cell and a professional discussion.

We are very proud to announce that she has now received the best grade possible of a distinction.

Lisa can now apply her lean manufacturing knowledge to assist lean improvements within our factory, accompanied by her onsite auditing and our customers will be able to make use of her technical understanding for the manufacture of our metal components and welded assemblies.

Lisa said: “I am looking forward to applying my improved technical knowledge during my day-to-day role within the Sales team, and I am grateful for the support in my career development that has been provided by Jenks & Cattell.”
