From Jenks Apprentice to Technical Engineering Manager – Welcome Back Craig

We are pleased to announce the return of our 1998 apprentice Craig Poppitt to Jenks & Cattell Engineering; who has joined the team as our Technical Engineering Manager after his departure 14 years ago.

As a school leaver, Craig followed his father’s footsteps into Jenks & Cattell Engineering in 1998 where he completed a 4-year Apprenticeship programme during his 9 years of employment here. He moved through every department from tool room, maintenance, tool setting, quality and welding and finally finding his role as Project Quality Engineer.

Craig went on to be a Project Engineer with a focus on metal press tooling for OEM’s including JLR for various engineering companies, and brings his wealth of expertise and metal stamping knowledge here. He will be working closely with our Engineering and Estimating teams to deliver a continuous improvement programme throughout our new product introduction and engineering practices to ensure our customers receive the most cost effective and quality manufacturing process route from the beginning. Craig will be responsible to implement new press tooling and new processes to support the continued growth of Jenks & Cattell Engineering.

Speaking of his return, Craig said:

“It is such an honour to have been selected for this position. I have always had a lot of respect for the company as they invested money, time and effort into me when I was here before, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

It’s my time now to pay Jenks back with all of my experience gained in the last 14 years in this industry, I am confident that I can help the company expand. I’m looking forward to doing just that and getting started with some old faces from previous and new.”

Our cross-functional teams work closely to review metal components at design feasibility stage, and we support projects from prototype to serial mass production with our laser cutting, metal stamping and welded facilities and Craig is sure to have a positive impact at this stage.

Outside of work, Craig looks forward to running and spending time with his family as well as enjoying his season ticket at Birmingham City FC.

Please join us in offering a warm welcome to Craig as we work together to make the business even more successful in the future.
