As a West Midlands engineering company, established since 1886 and home to over 100 employees, we are one of the oldest manufacturers specialising in presswork, laser fabrication and welded assemblies to produce metal parts in the UK.

Our engineering and manufacturing capabilities are very varied, as we work with all types of metal to produce parts of all sizes for a vast amount of industries including automotive, wind, electrical, white goods, yellow goods and agricultural.

Engineering Apprentice

As a trainee Engineer apprentice at Jenks & Cattell you will have the responsibility for new project introduction as well developing and improving new and existing production processes.

The role will cover many engineering disciplines including Presswork (Stamping), Laser/Press Brake, Welding and Assembly.

The candidate will work within the existing Engineering Team who’s collective & vast experience will mentor you through your training. A close working relationship with both the production & quality departments will also be required.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be liaising externally with Customers and Suppliers as well as internally with Management and Shop floor personnel.

Ideally, the candidate will possess an understanding of an engineering environment and Interest in metal presswork and fabrication.

Engineering Estimator Apprentice

As a trainee Engineering Estimator apprentice at Jenks & Cattell, you will have the responsibility for identifying the best manufacturing process for a metal component based on your analysis of a customer drawing. You will be responsible for working under the Sales team and alongside the engineering team to provide costs suitable for sales quotations.

The role will cover many engineering disciplines including Presswork (Stamping), Laser/Press Brake, Welding and Assembly. All of which will be learnt on the shop floor and office ahead of the final position as Estimator.

The candidate will work will be mentored throughout the training process with Sales & Engineering departments.

Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be liaising externally with Suppliers as well as internally with Management.
